Cupping:

Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine in which cups are placed on the skin to create suction. Suction from cupping draws fluid into the treated area. This suction force expands and breaks open tiny blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin, increases the blood flow and helps to reduce the inflammation, by sending more blood to the area to stimulate the natural healing process. There are different types of cupping.

In “Atlas Chiropractic Clinic and wellness” we do two most beneficial types which are Static and Dynamic.

  • Static Cupping:

This type is known to be the “least aggressive” form of cupping. Cups remain in the place for several minutes, the procedure typically leaves a circular mark on the skin, where blood from the capillaries has been drawn to the surface. Unlike the bruise, these marks are not tender to the touch, and will fade in several days.

  • Dynamic Cupping:

This type is also referred to as moving or sliding cupping. With dynamic cupping, a single soft silicone cup is placed on a particular area on the body while the patient receiving the treatment moves that part of their body or the doctor slides or drags the cup over the target muscles group to provide relief.

Cupping therapy is a totally safe procedure, but it may cause some temporary side effects such as skin irritation, redness, bruising, or discomfort which will disappear after a few days.
